Terry Bryant of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Capt. Jesse S. Barnes Camp 771æpresents a long lost iron cross to Margie Parker Brantley, president of the Bethel Heroes Chapter 636 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The cross had been placed on the grave of a Confederate soldier in the early 1920s by the chapter. æ
Ben and Ann Claire Roberson and Meg and Guy Deyton of Rocky Mount recently ran the Krispy Kreme Challenge in Raleigh that raises money for The N.C. Childrens Hospital at Chapel Hill. Runners ran 2.5 miles from the N.C. State University Bell Tower to the Krispy Kreme on Peace Street, ate up to a dozen donuts each and ran back. Meg and Ann Claire are freshmen at N.C. State. Guy is a sophomore at Rocky Mount Academy.

The Nash County Democratic Women are supporting The Lighthouse, a home for women who are rebuilding their lives and have no family or financial support. The initiative provides household essentials, food and clothing to make things easier as the women begin new jobs or attend school.
