Three people were shot in eerily similar circumstances in two separate incidents Thursday night in Rocky Mount.
About 7:47 p.m. Thursday, Rocky Mount police responded to the 700 block of East Virginia Street regarding a shooting with injury. They arrived to find two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
William Domonie Briscoe, 22, and Joel Savage III, 31, both were in the front yard of a home on East Virginia Street when a car drove up and someone inside fired shots. One victim was shot in the right kneecap and the other was struck in the left leg, said Cpl. Clay Wilder of the Rocky Mount Police Department.
About two hours later, at 9:51 p.m., Rocky Mount police received another call regarding a shooting with injury, this time on the 1900 block of Bedford Road. A 17-year old male suffered a gunshot wound in that incident.
Wilder said the teenager was standing on the front porch of the home when a car drove by and a shot was fired, hitting him in the leg. In this incident, Wilder said, police suspect that the teen was not the intended victim.
Despite the similar time and circumstances of the shootings, Wilder said police do not have evidence at this time that the two incidents are connected.
The victims all were sent for treatment at Nash UNC Health Care. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening, Wilder said.
Rocky Mount police are investigating these incidents.
