A 26-year-old man is behind bars in Nashville after law enforcement officers earlier this week found a large amount of marijuana, a rifle, a gun and cash in an apartment on the northwest side of Rocky Mount.
Shaquille Malcolm Xavier Jordan is charged with one count each of possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for the purposes of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia, Nash County Chief Deputy Brandon Medina said Thursday in a press release.
The arrest of Jordan came after residents at Hampton Village Apartments along Hurt Drive began complaining about suspicious activities and sales of narcotics at one of the apartments, Medina said.
Deputies followed up, detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from an open window of the suspect apartment and secured a search warrant, Medina said.
Deputies on Tuesday found more than 15 ounces of marijuana packaged for sale, along with an AK-47, a .40-caliber pistol, ammunition, nearly $8,950 in cash, marijuana wax and drug paraphernalia, Medina said.
Jordan was not at the apartment as the search warrant was being executed, but he was located Wednesday and taken into custody without incident, Medina said.
Jordan is jailed under a $5,000 secured bond in the Nash County Detention Center, Medina said.
