Rocky Mount police have identified the victim in Rocky Mount’s latest homicide.

Rocky Mount police responded about 3:40 a.m. Tuesday to Aqua Court in reference to a possible shooting. They discovered that a male victim had been shot inside the residence. The victim later was identified as Anthony Ray Arrington, 25.

First responders with the Rocky Mount Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services also responded to the scene. Arrington was transported to Nash UNC Health Care, where he was pronounced dead.

This is the 15th homicide to take place within Rocky Mount city limits this year.

Police would not comment on whether the shot came from outside or inside the home or where the bullet struck the victim. They also would not identify the actual location of the incident. Clay Wilder, public information officer for the Rocky Mount Police Department, said these details could not be released without approval from city officials.

The Rocky Mount Police Department is investigating the incident.
