Authorities are saying a man robbed not one but two Dollar General stores in the Twin Counties.

Pinetops Police Chief Stacy Harrell said the holdup of the Dollar General in Pinetops is connected to an earlier holdup of the Dollar General in Sharpsburg.

Harrell said the Dollar General in the 4300 block of South Hathaway Boulevard/U.S. 301 in Sharpsburg was robbed at 9:13 p.m. on Thursday.

Harrell said the man who robbed the store in Sharpsburg is the same one who robbed the store in the 300 block East Hamlet Street in Pinetops approximately half an hour later.

He said the robber worked with a driver and said the two went together in a car from Sharpsburg to Pinetops.

He said the car was seen circling the block in Pinetops and was in the area of the Dollar General in Pinetops.

The robber ran from the Dollar General in Pinetops after entering and allegedly brandishing a firearm and taking an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber is described as a black man of a small or skinny build, with his hair possibly in short dreadlocks.

He was wearing white shirts wrapped around his head, a black long-sleeved or pullover shirt, tan or light gray pants and gray or tan and black tennis shoes.

Anyone with additional information about the robbery is asked to call Pinetops police at 252-827-5014 or 252-813-9680.
