Woman assaulted by boyfriend

A 33-year-old woman was seriously assaulted Sunday as an argument with her boyfriend escalated into violence.

The woman was sitting on her porch stoop when her intoxicated boyfriend reportedly approached her about 12:45 a.m. The couple began to argue and the woman drove her boyfriend to another residence in her 2010 Ford Fusion.

Before she could exit the vehicle, the man allegedly tried to physically assault her by placing his hands around her neck. The woman managed to escape and ran to a nearby house on the 1500 block of Davis Street. Her boyfriend followed her and pushed her off the porch of the home before fleeing in her car.

According to police reports, the woman was unconscious when Rocky Mount police responded to the scene.

Warrants for aggravated assault and other related charges are now in the process of being issued for the boyfriend, who has not yet been identified.
