The Rocky Mount police arrested a man Tuesday for causing problems at a local hotel and assaulting an officer.

Brandon Paul Dunn, 33, was charged with aggravated assault of an officer, simple physical assault, communicating threats, damage to property and resisting an officer. Cpl. Brad Summerlin, public information officer of the Rocky Mount Police Department, said officers were called to a hotel about 3:41 a.m.Tuesday in the 200 block of Gateway Boulevard about a man causing a disruption.

When officers arrived, Summerlin said, Dunn was destroying property at the hotel. He later threatened one of the officers and resisted arrest. Summerlin said Dunn was punching the officers and authorities had to use physical force to take him down and place him in custody.

Dunn was jailed under a $7,500 secured bond in Nash County Detention Center, Summerlin said.
