A man was killed Monday in Nash County in fatal crash that resulted in a fire.
Emir Trnjanin, 36, of Apex, was traveling east on U.S. 64 near Spring Hope when he ran off the road to the right. He then ran through a ditch, hit trees and overturned, coming to rest on U.S. 64 East facing southeast. His vehicle, a pavement marking truck, then caught fire, igniting the trees around it. The fire was quickly extinguished by several area fire departments tat responded.
U.S. 64 East in the area was closed for more than eight hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
Trnjanin worked for Clark Pavement Marking and was reportedly on his way to work site when the accident occurred.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
