JUPITER, Fla. (AP) -- Walner Espinal hit a two-run single in the second inning, leading the GCL Marlins to a 7-5 win over the GCL Nationals on Thursday.

The single by Espinal scored Javeon Cody and Matt Snyder to give the GCL Marlins a 2-1 lead.

GCL Nationals answered in the top of the next frame when Leandro Emiliani hit a two-run home run to grab a one-run lead.

The GCL Marlins later added a run in the fifth and four in the sixth. In the fifth, Isaac Galloway hit a solo home run, while Galloway hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Cameron Barstad in the sixth.

GCL Nationals saw its comeback attempt come up short after Braian Fernandez hit an RBI single, scoring Geraldi Diaz in the eighth inning to cut the GCL Marlins lead to 7-5.

Victor Mesa tripled and singled for GCL Marlins.

Matt Givin (2-0) got the win in relief while Pedro Gonzalez (0-1) took the loss in the Gulf Coast League game.

Emiliani homered and singled twice, driving home four runs for the GCL Nationals. Fernandez singled three times, also stealing two bases.
