Letter to the Editor: Economy humming thanks to Trump

Friday, November 9, 2018

“It may be the best time for American employees in 50 years.”

These are words of David Harris Jr. Even the New York Times could not deny these statistics, Thank you President Trump for your job producing policies.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics exceeded expert predictions reporting that the economy added 250,000 new jobs in the month of October. “With more than 2.5 million jobs created in the last 12 months, Congress should work with President Trump to make the tax cuts permanent.

Adding to the good news, the number of employed Americans stands at a record high. The labor force participation rate jumped from 62.7 percent to 62.9 percent. This means that an additional 711,000 people got off the sidelines and jumped back into the workforce.

In addition, wages continued to slowly rise with average hourly earnings increasing by 5 cents to $27.30. Over the past year, average hourly earnings have risen by a total of 83 cents, or 3.1 percent.

Consumer confidence is soaring; Americans are winning!

According to a research note from Morgan Stanley, Americans have been over withholding significantly, and the bank forecasts that refunds in 2019 will be about 26 percent greater than 2018. In dollars, this is $62 billion more than last year’s $235 billion in refunds.

All the extra money in Americans’ pockets will likely boost savings accounts, used to pay down debt or increase the sales of big-ticket items next February and March.

On a different note:

I saw a caption on Facebook today that said: “If there is a slight chance of getting something that will make you happy, risk it, life is to short and happiness to rare.”

I have found being happy is a choice often confused with having fun. Having fun does not bring happiness; many times it is a momentary thing way over rated.

Galatians 5:19-24: “Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”

True happiness is only found in Christ Jesus.
