Police seek suspect in attempted robbery

Rocky Mount police are searching for man who attempted to rob a woman in the Cobb Corners shopping center.

Cpl. Brad Summerlin, public information officer of the Rocky Mount Police Department, said a 27-year-old woman was walking to her vehicle about 8:30 p.m. Oct. 20 in the parking lot after shopping at the Rainbow Shops women’s clothing store at 1549 Benvenue Road.

Summerlin said a black man described to be in his early 20s wearing a black hoodie and royal blue gym shorts attempted to steal the woman’s purse but was unsuccessful and fled the scene.

800 block of West Raleigh Boulevard; stolen, IPad.

3500 block of Sunset Avenue; stolen, cell phone.

1200 block of Leggett Road; stolen, cash, electronics, car tag.

800 block of Jasmine Drive; stolen, radio.


100 block of Loch Court; stolen, handgun, ammunition, holster.

400 block of North Harris Street; damaged, window, screen door.

4400 block of Layola Avenue; damaged, front door.

600 block of East Thomas Street; damaged, store front door.

200 block of Union Street, damaged, wall, sofa.
