Burglar robs convenience store

The Rocky Mount police are investigating a recent burglary of a local convenience store.
Cpl. Brad Summerlin, public information officer of the Rocky Mount Police Department, said about 4:51 a.m. on Sept. 27 that a suspect broke into a closed convenience store in the 900 block of West Raleigh Boulevard. Summerlin said the robber busted and damaged the window valued at $500 and a small portion of the glass on the door.
According to a report, the burglar stole 82 cartons of Newport cigarettes valued at $478.06, 10 cigarellos valued at $20 and three lottery tickets valued at $3. Summerlin said the suspect was described as a black man wearing a black red hooded shirt, jeans, gray tennis shoes and dark gloves.
