The Tar River Children's Chorus will hold open auditions for boys and girls with treble voices in grades 4-12 from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
"We are open to all talented singers and those who may have just begun to sing," said conductor Patsy Johnson Gilliland. "We are here to give our area children a quality chorus to develop their voices as they grow and gain musical and performance skills."
Prospective choristers should prepare a song, no longer than one minute, to sing a cappella and be familiar with "Silent Night" to test melody against harmony.
Cantare — grades 4-6 — mainly must have a sufficient range and match pitches well. Concert Chorus — grades 7-12 — requires singers who have good range and some experience with reading music.
