RMA's Johnston to start Saturday for N.C. State

Rocky Mount Academy grad and N.C. State sophomore Reid Johnston will start Saturday’s game against Florida State in the second game of a three-game series against the visiting Seminoles (13-2, 2-1 ACC).

N.C. State (17-0, 3-0) entered the series opener on Friday with a program-record 17-0 start to the season. The Wolfpack have trailed at some point in 10 games this season before coming back to win.

Johnston will make his third start and sixth appearance of the season when he takes the ball. The right-hander leads the Wolfpack with 20 innings pitched, and has the second-lowest ERA among starters with at least two starts at 1.35.

Over 20 innings, Johnston (2-0) has allowed three earned runs, struck out 22, and allowed 11 hits.

CJ Van Eyk (3-1) is projected to start Saturday’s game for the Seminoles. The right-hander has a 4.05 ERA over 20 innings pitched.
